After so many days hitting the pavement, sightseeing from dawn til dusk and then more, today was far more mellow. I slept in until almost 9am, coughing and spluttering as my cold has moved down to my chest – yay!! (not!)
Our main goal today was to visit Hijiyama Park, which is set on a mountain [...]

Welcome to Hiroshima, the city best known for it’s tragic history, being the first city ever to suffer the effects of a direct atomic bomb hit.
Today we headed to do the Hiroshima ‘thing’ – visit the bomb dome, the peace park and the peace memorial museum. There are many more ‘gaijin’ (foreigners) in Hiroshima, and [...]

Today we took a day trip to Nagasaki, but before I get to that, I want to tell you about the awesome meal we had last night.
We went to this restaurant we had seen on the first night we arrived – it had a 7 course meal set for 3000 yen (about $30). We strolled [...]
